Independence Day

NPH Honduras 2018

Honduras celebrates it’s independence day, affectionately called “el quince” on September 15th each fall. Although calling it fall may be generous, as we didn’t have a single celebration in my three-year stint at NPH where it was under 90 degrees.

While we favor our fireworks in the USA, most cities in Honduras go BIG on the parades. The kids at NPH’s school begin marching band practice as early as June, and everyone - from students to staff to volunteers, get’s to participate.

The kids I worked with LOVED the day, and it quickly became one of my favorite moments to photograph.
