Hello!

I’m Alex Hanel, a Minnesota native now living in Seattle, Washington.

I first picked up a camera in 2016 while working with Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos in Honduras. It started as a 13 month job, but ended three years and nearly 200,000 photos later.

I also write, I copy edit, I quote The Office too much. I’ve managed social media accounts, and I worked on the Media Logistics team for the 2020 Democratic National Convention.

I’m now doing political communications for a universal child care campaign in Washington state, where I write talking points and campaign tools, take photos, and run the website. You can check it out if you too think child care is too damn expensive.

But I’m happiest when I’m taking other people’s photos.
